The Cottage
The Cottage was built in 2001 in typical Swedish Falun red and white style. It has been designed to be lived in all year round with triple glazing and high levels of insulation.
As with everything in Sweden, environmental considerations were paramount. It has its own well providing pumped water all year round for the shower, flush toliet and modern kitchen. We have set up a recycling facility for cans, glass, card packaging, printed paper, batteries, soft plastic packaging and plastic bottles. Please help, make your holiday make a difference!
Being only 30 meters away from Stor Sjo Lake drainage is provided by the modern version of a reed bed ensuring no polution enters either the lake or the water table. This has become law for all properties situated close to a lake.
The perfect romantic retreat
Accommodation
As you walk through the front door, take your shoes off and marvel at the beautiful pine clad high ceiling with a slight lime wash finish.
You walk into the bright open plan lounge with TV (Freeview digital programme reception available Aug 15th '09) & DVD player (a small library of family DVD's is available & some board games too) & kitchen space with doors opening onto the large deck. The beautiful blue grey kithen dining area is fully equipped with oven, hob, fridge and freezer, kettle and of course coffee machine, ensuring you are able to take full advantage of the excellent continental food selection available in Sweden. New for 2010, we now have a high chair too.
The WC & shower room has a utility area with washing machine. There's a hairdrier too. New for 2010, returning guests will appreciate the Mira ECO shower head providing a much improved shower experience.
Outside the deck surrounds two sides of the cottage ensuring you can worship the sun all day long. Make the most of the long Swedish summer days, enjoy a BBQ. The sun rises at about 3 am and just dips below the horizon at around midnight, travelling almost full circle round the sky in the process. If you are unable to sleep just sit outside and read a book! We also have a badminton set and a selection of balls giving families the opportunity to spend time together in the garden.
Accommodation for 6 + infant = 1 Double bedroom with wardrobes, 1 bunk bedded room with wardrobe, an enchanting guests annexe (Alistair's House) with 2 single beds and wardrobe and a travel cot (no linen). There is a spare matress for use on the floor as we don't recommend teenagers or adults sleep on the top bunk. Sorry, no pets allowed and we thank you for not smoking inside.
After much searching we are finally able to offer a cleaining service at an extra cost for guests who are unable to clean ready for the next guests arrival or those who wish to have a complete holiday and leave the cleaning to someone else. Currently charged at £100 for Fri departures with a small surchage for departures on Sat. This can be confirmed on the booking form.
